About this cartoon: The Islamic State (or ISIS, or ISIL) has been accused by many of being un-Islamic because of their horrific practices, but as an Atlantic magazine article pointed out, they are very Islamic, embracing a 7th Century fundamentalism patterned on the prophet Mohammed, who himself led a brutal and bloody life, showing no mercy to unbelievers. A naive State Department spokesperson, trying to explain how to keep further recruits from ISIS, suggested they perhaps need jobs, ignoring the extreme religious fundamentalism that drives the movement.
